Albay, Philippines — The Women’s Planters Association of Bariw has successfully harvested a total of 53,100 patola (sponge gourd) from July 2024 to February 2025. This milestone was achieved with the full support of Albay 3rd District Congressman Fernando “Didi†Cabredo, whose hands-on approach to empowering local farmers continues to drive sustainable development across the district.
The monthly harvests peaked in November 2024 with 14,415 patola, followed by 10,100 in December. Despite lower outputs in January and February, the association’s overall productivity highlights the effectiveness of grassroots agricultural programs and the determination of its members.
District-Wide Support for Women Farmers
The Bariw association is one of several women farmers’ groups across Albay’s 3rd District that benefits from Congressman Cabredo’s steadfast support. From planting to harvest, Cabredo provides encouragement and resources, including regular lunch provisions for farmers during harvest time, a gesture that reflects his commitment to their well-being and hard work.
