The city of Legazpi witnessed an inspiring initiative as Mayor Alfredo Garbin Jr. spearheaded the first-ever “Christmas Cheers” program, ensuring that every family experienced the joy of the holiday season. Organized with precision and a heartwarming vision, the event provided much-needed relief and holiday cheer to hundreds of Legazpino families.

The program distributed premium Christmas hampers containing ham and 4 kilos of rice per family. Initially planned to cover 67,000 families based on an old census, adjustments were made by barangays to accommodate additional families not yet recorded in the census. This flexibility ensured that even families outside the original projection were included in the festivities.

The program sparked a wave of gratitude from residents, who expressed their appreciation on social media. She added that the program allowed families who could not afford such festive food to experience the joy of the holidays.

Another resident, Koi Minas, praised the initiative’s inclusivity, writing, “Dakulang tabang talaga so ham ta warang pili na tiga tawan. Buda nakaka-abot talaga tunay.” He also compared the program to previous efforts during the pandemic, pointing out how those distributions were less impactful.

Crissy Apirga emphasized how the program reached even the most remote areas, stating, “Gabos po natawan maski so mga nasa luyos natawan… Kaya dai ki pigpipili ang APG. Kundi may cge ngawangawa kan Ham, siguro nakulangan.” She commended the efforts of the Local Government Unit and Mayor Alfredo Garbin for ensuring fairness in the distribution.

Jester Paulo Madrellejos Velez remarked, “First time in Legazpi maseramon pati Buda dagdag kabuhayan sa mga ka-brgy na kapos man sa pangke-buhay,” highlighting how this was the first time such an inclusive and meaningful program was implemented.

Cel Argon added, “Atlis taong bayan nakinabang buong barangay natawan… Na kainot inutan nangyari ini syudad kan Legazpi na tinanawan improtansya Mayor Pido kada pamilya panahon na kapaskohan. Mabuhay ka Mayor Alfredo Garbin!” Her statement underscored how the program reached every family in need.

The program has become a shining example of inclusivity and generosity. It has set a high standard for public service by ensuring that no family was left behind, particularly during a time of economic challenges.

As the city embarks on this promising trajectory under Mayor Alfredo Garbin Jr., residents look forward to more meaningful projects that embody the true spirit of public service. For Legazpi City, this program was more than a gift distribution—it was a celebration of unity, compassion, and the collective hope for a brighter future.
