Lupi, Camarines Sur – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has issued an official statement addressing the heavy traffic caused by road slips and ongoing road reblocking activities in Barangay Cabutagan, Lupi, Camarines Sur, as of December 18, 2024.
According to DPWH, the situation stemmed from significant road erosion, which has compromised portions of the highway, leading to congestion and concerns among motorists. In response, the agency is implementing immediate remedial measures to ensure safety and improve traffic flow.
Key actions being taken include:
• Steel sheet pile driving to stabilize the eroded sections,
• Backfilling operations to accommodate a two-lane traffic flow, and
• Temporary suspension of other roadwork activities to ease the traffic burden along the Lupi road stretch.
The DPWH emphasized that these measures are being prioritized and implemented round-the-clock to minimize disruptions and swiftly restore normalcy.
To further assist motorists, local enforcement teams have been deployed to regulate vehicle movement and ensure orderly traffic flow. The public is advised to remain cautious when traveling through the affected areas and to adhere to traffic advisories for safety.
DPWH also extended its appreciation for the patience and cooperation of motorists, stating:
