LEGAZPI CITY – Albay 3rd District Representative Fernando “Didi” Cabredo has announced the allocation of ₱1 billion for the repair and rehabilitation of roads damaged by Typhoon Kristine in October 2024. The funding, facilitated by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), will ensure the restoration of key road networks essential for local connectivity and economic activity.
Cabredo shared the news during a meeting with barangay leaders in Pioduran, confirming that the Ligao-Pioduran Road sections affected by the typhoon have already been funded and bid out at the DPWH Regional Office V in Rawis, Legazpi City. Once the contract is awarded, construction is expected to begin soon.
Prioritizing Infrastructure Recovery
Aside from the Ligao-Pioduran Road, the Libon-Pantao Port Road—another critical route that sustained heavy damage—will also undergo rehabilitation under this funding package. The improvements aim to enhance road safety, strengthen economic opportunities, and improve accessibility for residents and businesses in Albay’s 3rd District.
Gratitude to National Leadership
Cabredo expressed his appreciation to President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and DPWH Secretary Manny Bonoan for prioritizing infrastructure recovery in Albay.
“This funding is a significant step toward improving our road infrastructure and supporting economic growth in the 3rd District of Albay,” Cabredo stated.
With safer and more reliable roads, local industries, trade, and tourism in the region are expected to benefit, reinforcing Cabredo’s commitment to sustainable development in Albay’s 3rd District.
