Oas, Albay – In a significant step towards strengthening its rehabilitation programs for Children-in-Conflict with the Law (CICLs), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V (FOV) is set to establish a new rehabilitation facility in Oas, Albay.
Spanning a total floor area of 1,752 square meters, the facility will serve as the new home for the residents of the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY), which is currently based in Pangpang, Sorsogon City. The relocation is expected to commence by June this year, following the completion of the second phase of construction for the boys’ dormitory. This phase is being undertaken by the DSWD, while the initial phase of the project was implemented by the Provincial Government of Albay through a fund transfer arrangement.
The initiative underscores DSWD FOV’s unwavering commitment to the rehabilitation and reintegration of CICLs into their families and communities. By providing an improved and secure environment, the new facility aims to empower young residents with proper guidance and support, enabling them to become responsible members of society.
This development aligns with the agency’s advocacy that every life is valuable and that CICLs deserve a second chance to rebuild their future in a safe and nurturing setting.
